Boyfriend of mother accused of assisting in concealing body of 5-year-old Nefertiti Harris

Police in Syracuse are accusing Corrice Parks, the boyfriend of Latasha Mott, for allegedly aiding in concealing the body of 5-year-old Nefertiti Harris after Mott reportedly killed her daughter in early January. Chief Assistant District Attorney Robert Moran of Onondaga County stated that Parks turned himself in with legal representation on Friday morning, facing a charge of disposing of a corpse, classified as a class E felony. As this charge does not qualify for bail, Parks received an appearance ticket for a court date set for the following Friday, April 5. Mott also faces the same charge for allegedly hiding Nefertiti’s body intentionally following her death on Jan. 6. Mott initially claimed that the girl was concealed in a “wooded area” after her passing. The revelation of Nefertiti’s disappearance came to light when Mott’s inconsistent stories raised suspicions among her acquaintances, prompting them to contact the authorities this past weekend.

Mott has been charged with manslaughter after admitting to police that she had used a belt to strike Nefertiti in the shower, resulting in her demise. The authorities determined that this action led to a homicide due to blunt force trauma following an examination by the Onondaga County medical examiner that took place after a search that spanned over 24 hours at a baseball field near Salt Springs Road in Syracuse. The case will now be presented to a grand jury for further consideration on potential charges.

Parks had been uncooperative during questioning over the past weekend when authorities first interviewed him alongside Mott. He has a criminal history in Syracuse, involving weapons and narcotics dating back nine years. Parks had previously served a three-year state prison sentence for a 2017 conviction of criminal possession of a weapon and a one-year term for possessing a stolen handgun in 2016, being released in August 2020. Additionally, court records indicate a conviction for criminal possession of heroin in 2016.
