Next Wednesday will be the 30th anniversary since 18-year-old Heidi Marie Allen went missing from New Haven. On April 3, 1994, Allen, who was 18 years old at the time, disappeared while working alone as a cashier at the D&W Convenience Store at the intersection of State Route 104 and 104B in New Haven. She opened the store around 5:45 a.m. and the store was reported vacant just over two hours later at approximately 7:55 a.m. Allen had her last transaction at 7:42 a.m. and has not been seen since.
At the time of her disappearance, Allen was described as 5-foot-11, 145 pounds, with long curly light brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt with a plaid “SU” logo on the front and white sneakers. She typically wore glasses or contact lenses and had pierced ears.
In 1995, Gary Thibodeau was convicted of kidnapping Allen. He maintained his innocence for almost 25 years until his death in prison in August 2018. Richard Thibodeau, Gary’s brother, was also accused of the same crime but was found not guilty in a separate trial. He passed away on January 2.
On the 25th year since Allen’s disappearance in 2019, her sister Lisa Buske expressed her belief that Allen was kidnapped and murdered. An investigation aired on CNY Central called the “Heidi Allen Files” shed light on a hidden document in the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the disappearance of Heidi Marie Allen is encouraged to contact the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 349-3411.
