Family members remember Baldwinsville student killed in car accident as ‘bubbly and energetic’

In Baldwinsville, New York, a community gathered to honor 17-year-old Ka’Niya Cureton, who tragically passed away this month after being struck by a car on East Genesee Street. Cureton, who was on the verge of starting her senior year at C.W. Baker High School, was remembered fondly by family and friends during a touching event that included releasing balloons into the sky in her honor. The community came together to pay tribute to Cureton’s vibrant and loving spirit, with heartfelt gestures such as leaving teddy bears, flowers, and messages along the roadside. Described as an energetic and always helpful individual, Cureton’s cousin highlighted the impact she had beyond just her family, noting the significant loss felt by the entire community. The tragic incident occurred when Cureton was hit by a sedan while walking on August 11 and succumbed to her injuries after a week in the hospital. To support her family with funeral expenses and other needs, a GoFundMe page has been set up, which can be accessed for donations.
