Heroic Bus Driver Rescues Fayetteville-Manlius Student from Speeding Car in Nail-Biting Close Call

In Manlius, New York, a Fayetteville-Manlius bus driver had to physically stop a girl from exiting her school bus as a driver recklessly sped past. Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing a gold/tan Toyota Camry dangerously passing by the stopped school bus on the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a collision with a mailbox. Other vehicles in the video appropriately stopped when the school bus activated its lights, while the student’s mother could be seen anxiously waiting for her daughter’s safe exit, reacting with shock as the car sped past.

The Town of Manlius Police Department shared the video on their Facebook page, seeking information from the public. The post urges the driver of the Toyota Camry to come forward and mentions that they are actively reviewing additional surveillance footage to identify the offender. Tips on the incident can be submitted anonymously via email at tips@manliuspolice.org or by phone at (315) 682-8673.
