Hot weather before Wednesday storms

THEMES: Syracuse Weather Updates

Following a pleasant weekend at The Great New York State Fair, Syracuse is set to experience more delightful weather. Expect plenty of sunshine with no precipitation as temperatures climb into the mid-80s. Compared to neighboring areas, Syracuse will likely be a few degrees warmer. Onondaga County, including the southern hills, will see temperatures in the 80s today, with potential isolated afternoon showers east of the I-81 corridor. Rome and Utica are areas where isolated thunderstorms may develop between 1pm and 5pm, primarily posing a risk of lightning and brief heavy rain in Oneida County.

Tomorrow’s forecast also promises another beautiful day, though the heat will be a factor. With dewpoints in the mid-60s on Tuesday, it may feel more like the low 90s. There’s a minimal chance of showers developing in the Finger Lakes region during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, likely dissipating before reaching Syracuse. However, overnight going into Wednesday morning, expect showers and thunderstorms to move into the Syracuse area.

Wednesday could see the possibility of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon, followed by clearing skies on Thursday. There could be additional storm development late Friday night into Saturday morning, though the timing remains uncertain.
