Lane reductions on sections of I-81 starting this week.

The New York State Department of Transportation has issued a notice regarding two lane reductions on I-81 near Syracuse starting on Monday, August 5. The first reduction will occur on southbound Interstate 81, reducing it to one lane south of Exit 23A-23B-22 (Hiawatha Blvd Destiny USA Drive Bear St) over the Park Street bridge in Syracuse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday for bridge joint repair. Subsequently, northbound Interstate 81 will be reduced to a single lane between Exits 27-28 (Syracuse Airport N Syracuse) and the northbound on-ramp on the service road in Salina from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Construction activities are subject to weather conditions and potential changes by the State DOT. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in the work zone and adhere to all traffic control measures, such as signs and flaggers.
