Corrice Parks has been taken into custody in Syracuse, New York, accused of assisting in hiding the body of 5-year-old Nefertiti Harris, marking the second person implicated in the case. Parks, 27, faces charges of concealment of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence for allegedly aiding in burying Nefertiti in a field off Salt Springs Road, approximately four miles from where she died in an apartment on West Beard Avenue. Court documents reveal that Parks helped hide the body around January 6, the same day Nefertiti was reported killed.
Police arrested 29-year-old Latasha Mott, Nefertiti’s mother, for manslaughter, after determining the girl died from blunt-force injuries. Following an extensive search, Nefertiti’s body was found over two months later in a wooded area near an old baseball field adjacent to Brick School Terrace Apartments.
Parks, who has a criminal history in Syracuse involving weapons and drugs, served three years in state prison for criminal possession of a weapon in 2017 and has other prior felony convictions. Due to his criminal background, Parks was remanded without bail for the concealment charge. Meanwhile, Mott is incarcerated facing charges of manslaughter and concealment of a corpse.
