Marquardt Switches Inc. will be shifting its production operations from its current location in Cazenovia, USA, to its facility in Irapuato, Mexico. Established in 1981, the company’s North American Headquarters in Cazenovia specializes in manufacturing electromechanical and electronic switches. Despite the relocation, certain service, sales, and development functions will remain in Cazenovia, with equipment manufacturing continuing exclusively at the Cazenovia site.
The decision to move production was influenced by various factors, including the challenging global economy, persistently low order levels, repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and escalating costs of materials, energy, and labor. Despite efforts to address these challenges, the company determined that sustainable growth would not be achievable at the Cazenovia site in the foreseeable future.
Marquardt Switches Inc. anticipates that around 180 jobs will be impacted by the relocation, with affected employees receiving advanced notice. Approximately 60 positions will still be retained in Cazenovia. The company expressed regret over the necessity of these measures and pledged to support affected employees throughout the transition. The goal is to complete all relocation activities by mid-2025.
