One year since Kaylin Gillis was shot and killed in mistaken driveway incident

A year has passed since the tragic shooting death of 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis in Washington County, NY. To commemorate her life, a memorial will be held at Fort Hardy Park in Gansevoort at 6:30 pm. Kevin Monahan was convicted earlier this year of murder charges in relation to Gillis’ death. The incident occurred when Monahan shot Gillis and her friends after they mistakenly drove onto his property. Following the sentencing, multiple lawsuits have been filed against Monahan, including a wrongful death lawsuit from Gillis’ family and a suit from her boyfriend, Blake Walsh, for emotional and psychological distress. Walsh argues that Jinx Monahan, Kevin’s wife, is also responsible for the actions, as she knew her husband was prone to overreacting and had easy access to a shotgun. Additionally, Monahan’s home insurance provider is facing a lawsuit to ensure they cover the damages.
