Early Friday morning, the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District in Manlius, N.Y., was the recipient of a swatting threat. The threat originated from the Discord app and an anonymous tip submitted through the district’s “Let’s Talk” online portal. The threat targeted school safety at the high school, as confirmed by Superintendent Craig J. Tice. Upon receiving the threat, district officials contacted 911, leading to an investigation by the Town of Manlius Police Department, including a meeting with a high school student and their family. Ultimately, the police deemed the threat non-credible. Despite this, there was an increased police presence at the high school as a precautionary measure. Superintendent Tice stated that efforts are ongoing to identify those responsible for the incident. Tice emphasized the district’s readiness to provide support to those affected by such threats and encouraged vigilance among the school community. He commended the collaboration with local law enforcement officials to maintain a safe environment for the schools and community.
