Search for drowned victim in Sodus will continue on Monday

In Sodus, New York, a personal injury boat collision occurred on Sodus Bay in the Town of Sodus on Sunday, July 21, as reported by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The incident involved a cigar boat, a type of speedboat, in a single-boat collision. Deputies responded to reports of the boat’s operator and passenger being ejected into the water. Another group of boaters assisted in bringing the female passenger to shore for medical attention. She was then airlifted by mercy flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. Despite efforts from Sheriffs Marine Patrol and Dive Team, the male operator remains missing, with a search planned to resume on Monday at 7 a.m. Various agencies, including the NYSP Aviation unit, US Coast Guard, Sodus Point, Alton, and North Rose Fire Departments, along with Easter Wayne, Silver Waters Ambulances, Wayne County EMS, and Mercy Flight, provided assistance on the scene. The investigation into the collision is currently ongoing.
