The likelihood of scattered thunderstorms is on the rise in our region, particularly later on Monday afternoon. While most areas experiencing thunderstorms can expect heavy downpours, lightning, and thunder, it is crucial to stay vigilant for any weather warnings that may be issued, indicating dangerous damaging winds or more severe conditions.

What does a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” signify?
– A severe thunderstorm warning indicates an imminent threat of large hail, damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall along the storm’s path.
– Severe winds are classified by speeds of 58+ MPH.
If an “EAS” alert is triggered on your phone for a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning”:
– These warnings could lead to extensive damage with even stronger winds exceeding 80+ MPH.
– An Emergency Alert will be broadcast on your phone and TV.
– Severe hail is considered quarter-sized while destructive hail is baseball-sized.
– Immediate shelter should be sought.

– Seek shelter indoors in a sturdy building or vehicle, avoiding windows and doors.
