Swatting threat at Fayetteville-Manlius High School under police investigation

The Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District in Manlius, New York, received a swatting threat on Friday morning. Officials received the threat through the Discord app and an anonymous tip via the district’s “Let’s Talk” online communication platform. The threat pertained to the safety of the high school, as confirmed by Superintendent Craig J. Tice. Following the receipt of the threat, authorities contacted 911, and the Town of Manlius Police Department investigated the matter, involving a high school student and their family. The police determined that the threat was not credible. As a precaution, there was an increased police presence at the high school on Friday, with the school resource officer being informed of the situation. Superintendent Tice stated that an ongoing investigation is underway to identify the individuals responsible for the threat. Tice assured parents that the school district has a team of counselors and mental health specialists available to provide support to anyone affected by the incident. The school community was encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerning activities or behaviors to local law enforcement or staff members. The district expressed gratitude for the support of law enforcement officials in ensuring the safety of the schools and the community.
