Syracuse firefighters battle late-night fire in vacant house near Eastside neighborhood

FIRE INCIDENT IN SYRACUSE Firefighters in Syracuse responded to a vacant house fire on July 13th at around 11:43 p.m. in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue and Westcott Street within the Near Eastside Neighborhood. Upon arrival, the fire crews found heavy smoke and a significant fire at 308 Lexington Ave, a two-and-a-half-story residence. They quickly hosed down the home and managed to contain the blaze, which had spread to the interior of the house. A total of 39 Fire Department staff, including command and support personnel, were involved in the response, successfully extinguishing the fire in about 50 minutes. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among civilians or firefighters. The fire resulted in substantial damage to the rear porch on the first floor, as well as fire, smoke, and water damage to both the first and second floors. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
