Syracuse firefighters fight late-night fire at abandoned house near Eastside area

The Syracuse Fire Department successfully put out a fire at a vacant house on July 13 near Lexington Avenue and Westcott Street in Syracuse, New York. Firefighters responded within two minutes of the incident and discovered heavy smoke and a large fire at the rear of the two-and-a-half-story home located at 308 Lexington Ave. They quickly hosed down the flames, managing to extinguish the fire within 50 minutes. Fortunately, no one was injured as the house was unoccupied at the time. The first-floor porch and both floors of the house sustained fire, smoke, and water damage. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
