Woman taken into custody for assaulting Syracuse Police officer

In Syracuse, New York, a woman was arrested by the police for assaulting an officer by punching him in the face. The incident took place at 599 S. Salina St. near the Centro Transit Hub, following a report of a fight in progress on Saturday at 4:43 p.m. Police officers found a 21-year-old woman involved in the altercation and while attempting to detain her, she struck one of the officers in the jaw with a closed fist. The woman was then taken into custody without further resistance and charged with multiple violations of NYS Penal Law. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed despite the assault and no weapons were involved, with no injuries requiring hospitalization reported.
